Mary Alice Stephenson as CNN’s red carpet Oscars host
Stephenson eying designers’ red carpet collection
Feeling crazy to enjoy the much awaited Oscars? Now this will make you crazier as Mary Alice Stephenson has been tapped as contributor to it by CNN. On February 24, Stephenson will be the news channel’s fashion guru for the live red carpet special, “Hollywood’s Gold Rush,” as well as for Headline News’ Showbiz Tonight’s post-awards show special, broadcasted on February 25 to more than 212 countries.
Stephenson’s duties doesn’t limit to red carpet only. He will also provide an insider commentary on the style choices of Hollywood’s leading names. “It’s not as simple as who is dressed in which designer anymore,” said Stephenson, who’s also a contributing fashion editor at Harper’s Bazaar and a creative consultant at Spin. “There is a story behind every look the world sees. It’s the most important night for fashion. What goes down that red carpet becomes part of fashion history. After focusing on being a mom and my own business, for me there’s no one better than CNN. It’s less about a joke and being funny and more about the history of designers and their relationships with the actors and actresses.”
The stylist brings to lime light the collection of diamond adorned bracelets, earrings, rings, and necklaces co-designed with Kara Ross and fashioned in semi-precious and precious stones, to be debuted on Thursday as part of a special pre-Oscars suite Ross has set up in conjunction with J. Mendel’s Gilles Mendel. Tory Burch, Amy Sacco, Amanda Ross, Jamie Tisch, and Cameron Silver will host a cocktail party at the sunset tower hotel to celebrate the occasion.
