The Haute Couture Show: Fall 2007

July 4th, 2007

The haute couture show has all the extravagance and magnificence about it. It is really something of a grand, grand event, but when it is the eve of 6th anniversary of a personality like Christian Dior, and then you might estimate how important the occasion is. Since it was such an egregious event, as many as 1000 elite guests were invited, who were asked to come in a dress code pertaining to “extreme elegance”. All the proceedings of this magnificent eve took place at L’Orangerie at Versailles.
The designer collection exhibited on the occasion was marvelous and absolutely mind-blowing. It had all the splendor, laces, rich colors and corsetry. It seemed that the models had walked out of the tapestries of bygone times. It was the ultimate show of creating living portraits. The models resembled an Impressionist, Pre-Raphaelite or Goya painting. It was really a wonderful tribute to Dior and all the lovers of art. I wish I could be there to witness the event ….how about you? You can still sneak a peek at some of the works of art:
